Built in 1987 to an original design by Pepe Gancedo, it was updated in 2005 by top Spanish golfer Manuel Pinero and has 27 holes which make up three courses. Wide fairways,daunting water hazards, ravines and dark sand traps make this a challenging course to play and the setting couldn’t be more pleasing on the eye.

The coastal path skirts round the course and is very popular with walkers who like to watch the birds swooping down in front of the cliffs and the waves rolling in from the Atlantic. With so many natural attractions, it’s good to know that Golf del Sur has an active environmnetal policy, they recycle as much as possible and protect the plants and animals on the grounds. No surprise then that in November 2007 they were awarded a Madera Verde Diploma of Honour for the best environmentally friendly golf business in Spain.

Everything you need is on hand from a training academy, practice green and bunker to a fully stocked golf shop. Here’s something mant other courses can’t boast about, a bowls green to further test your competitive spirit. Prices vary between winter season, october to april, and the slightly cheaper summer season where 84 euros will pay for 18 holes. There are lots of offers for off peak times and advance season tickets and buggy and club hire are available.
